Brain Detox Juices
Since I’ve been coaching the Juice Fast and 30-Day Detox groups, I’ve heard from many people who have ditched their brain fog along with the toxins. These programs detox the brain along with the rest of the body. But I wanted to know if any of the juices were especially helpful in detoxing the brain. It turns out a number of juices are especially helpful.
The nitrates that occur naturally in beets have been found to boost blood flow to the brain, which helps with mental performance. They also help boost your energy and performance levels. And they are a key liver detoxing vegetable.
With their high levels of gallic acid, blueberries protect the brain from degeneration and stress.
Dark Leafy Green Juice
With bright green leaves like kale, chard, spinach, and romaine lettuce, we can keep dementia at bay. A 2015 study (Health Day News) found that a serving of dark leafy greens a day can help the aging brain. They discovered that adults who ate one or two servings of leafy green veggies a day had slower mental deterioration than those who ate no vegetables.
This powerful anti-inflammatory spice has been found to improve the brain’s oxygen intake, keeping you alert and able to process information more efficiently.
Beet Berry Brain Detoxer
- 1 beet, with green leaves (leaves are optional)
- 1 cucumber
- 2-3 leaves of your favorite dark greens such as kale or chard
- 1 cup blueberries
- 1/2 green apple
- 1-inch chunk turmeric or 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
Juice all ingredients, stir and enjoy! (If you can’t find fresh turmeric, stir in turmeric powder.)
